If you have a NY State Teaching license, you will find a job easy. Many international schools are looking for teachers with some IB experience. You can easily take a few online and you should be fine. Most places give a housing allowance and you use it how you want. If you wife works, it is double for many places. Some school actually provide the house or apartment and they take into account who is traveling with you. Pay is good for many areas. The Middle East and Asia tend to be higher pay than EU. I'd suggest joining both The International Educator and Search Associates. You will get to view and watch postings and see salary trends. Search is the better of the employment agencies. IMHO

Wielding the Power of Poems - share yourself and teach with love is a Padlet created by Shanna Schwartz. Please find a good digital reading log attached. During these trying times, it is important to keep our students reading vast quantities of books. This reading log lets them keep track of the books they are reading. Make a copy of it, if you use Google Classroom, share it with them by making an individual copy for each student and then let them fill it the top goal number and then start logging. It is that easy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yDthT6UgMMikfmTc0rU4Y9WbgXj9KQd8LUU9g43MWGA/edit?usp=sharing

A HyperDoc is a digital document—such as a Google Doc—where all components of a learning cycle have been pulled together into one central hub. https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/hyperdocs/ The Cult of Pedagogy gives a great overview of Hyperdocs and how to use them in your classroom. I love the book The HyperDoc Handbook: Digital Lesson Design Using Google Apps https://www.amazon.com/HyperDoc-Handbook-Digital-Lesson-Design/dp/1733646892 Here is the best Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HyperDocs/

This is a great Hyperdoc created by Kendra Tyler. The Learning Outcomes for students are to: 1. Understand Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird through the citing of textual evidence and drawing inferences. 2. Understand and determine how time, era, and author’s background impacts authors and readers. 3. Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze in detail its development over the course of the text, including how it emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details; provide an objective summary of the text. 4. Understand Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird through the citing of textual evidence and drawing inferences. 5. The Giver is one of my favorite books and I have taught with students from Grade 5 to Grade 10. Everyone loves the book. Kevin has created a great Hyperdoc that asks the Essential Questions: What does it mean to be “perfect”? Does your identity come from your outward appearance or your inward person? What would life be like without free will? How important really is the freedom to choose? https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1xRVWEb517ec6K-ql2y3dMqC1Zb-HtaW0cjgBOfAacI0/edit?usp=sharing

Skype just launched a Meet Now feature. With Meet Now, hosts can create and share a free meeting with a few clicks. Meet Now doesn't require users to sign up or download the Skype application. This means that users can start a Skype call right from the website, much like its competitors. I tested this yesterday with a group and it worked beautifully. https://www.skype.com/en/free-conference-call/ Still a few things to consider before a big move: https://hothardware.com/news/microsoft-skype-meet-now-houseparty-zoom-video-chat

One of the best practices in education is Project Based Learning (PBL). Having taught in classrooms where this is done, it is nothing short of incredible. I have tried with Buck Institute trainers and they were some of the most worthwhile training I have been to. During CoVid, they are offering some great classes for free. Check them out below. https://www.pblworks.org/free-webinars-pbl-online

Frodo Frank Reed hoping to head off on a journey!
International Expat replied to mrfrankreed's topic in Introductory Forum
This is one way to get US Certification that is easy to transfer into many countries. You will need to check in Sweden what they need. The requirements will be different for private international schools and Swedish schools (which will be hard to impossible). For ESL, CELTA certification is good for teaching adults but not sure how high the demand is in Sweden.- 3 replies

Are you looking to teach in a language school or a private school? Most schools that are international schools require certification from the USA which often requires teacher certificates from the USA. However, working in a language school, they will often hire native speakers without certification.- 3 replies
