Burma police launch international manhunt after British teacher found dead in Yangon apartment

Recommended Posts

BURMESE police have launched an international manhunt for Scottish teacher Harris Binotti who fled the country hours after a colleague was found dead in his apartment following an  alcohol-fuelled night out.

The battered body of Gary Ferguson, 47, a British colleague of Binotti’s at the Horizon International School in Burma’s capital, Yangon, was found by his distraught Thai wife, Supatchaya Sichompoo, on Sunday morning. He had wounds to his head and chest.

The government’s ministry of information said Binotti, 25, and believed to be from Dumfries, had taken a Thai Airways flight out of the country on Saturday evening. Burmese officials declined to give further information about his intended destination and a spokesman for the Thai Royal Police told The Daily Telegraph that they had not been asked to launch an investigation.
